Armenian church to be built in Baghdad
SOCIETY, Daily news | ankakh | March 4, 2011 10:19The Mayoralty of Baghdad decided to allocate a plot to establish an Armenian church in the capital, according to an official statement.
“Baghdad Mayor Saber al-Issawi received Head of the Armenian Community in Iraq Archbishop Avak Asadourian, and gave instructions to choose an appropriate land to set up a church as part of the mayoralty’s support to all sects in Iraq,” said the statement obtained by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The archbishop expressed his gratitude to al-Issawi for his decision.
