A good tradition has been rehabilitated by the mayor’s initiative

Aimed at the rehabilitation of the tradition of attending theatres and museums by pupils of the schools subordinated to the municipality of Yerevan, as well as at the activation of teaching – educational and cognitive activity since March,1 of this year, by the initiative of Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan the program of providing pupils of secondary schools with free season tickets for theatres and museums has been started.

In the result of joint discussion of Education and Culture department of Yerevan municipality, directors and art directors of the theatres of the capital, the repertoire of corresponding performances of syllabus and a clear timetable were made up, according to which 80 thousand 300 schoolchildren from 161 schools subordinated to the municipality will have opportunity to attend 9 theaters of Yerevan during this school year (from March 1 till May 15).

“The programs were discussed as early as in January. The repertoire of all the theatres was presented to schools and in the result of teachers’ staff and the parents’ discussion the performances have been chosen. Three performances were chosen in each theater and actually in accordance with the timetable each school will have an opportunity to watch three performances in the mentioned theatres by the end of the school year”, noted  the head of Education  department of Yerevan City Hall staff Gayane Soghomonyan during her meeting with the journalists on the occasion of starting the program. The program also provides free visits to Yerevan History Museum and to Schoolchildren Philharmonic, where cognitive and game-lessons will be organized for the schoolchildren.
