The gas price for Armenian consumers will not be raised this year. Moreover, it will be reduced for socially vulnerable sections of population, stated RA Presidential Spokesman Armen Arustamyan.

“We are satisfied with the meeting between Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. During the talks in Saint Petersburg the sides reached an agreement on the prices for gas supplied to Armenia,” Arzumanyan said.

President Serzh Sargsyan ordered relevant mechanisms to be elaborated, Arzumanyan said.
An Armenian-Russian presidential meeting was held in Saint Petersburg, Feb. 25.

The gas issue has remained unsettled for a long time. The Russian Gazprom Company announced a switchover to market prices for some of the CIS member-countries.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that the gas price for the Armenian population was raised from 96 up to 132 AMD per cubic meter (a 37.55 rise), on April 1, 2010. The gas price for enterprises consuming over 10,000 cubic meters a month reached U.S. $243.13 – a 13% rise.
