Istanbul mourns Hrant Dink

Thousands of people marked the 4th anniversary of the death of Hrant Dink, the chief editor of the Agos newspaper. The commemoration was held at the editorial office of the Agos newspaper, January 19.

The NEWS.am correspondent reports from Istanbul that a number of members of the Turkish Parliament, the daughter of the assassinated editor of the Milliyet newspaper, as well as a number of well-known journalists took part in the action. A group of people, marching toward the editorial office of the Agos newspaper, was crying out: “The ruling party is concealing the assassin”, “We are all Armenians”, “No justice for four years”, “Murderer-state will be called to account”.

The Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink was assassinated near the editorial office of the Agos newspaper, January 19, 2007. His death evoked wide response both inside and outside Turkey. Large-scale actions of protests were held in Turkey.

The Turkish authorities named the suspect, Ogun Samast. He was arrested later and pleaded guilty.
