The cooperation with French cities will get new impulse
SOCIETY, Daily news | ankakh | January 13, 2011 10:42On January 12 the mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia Henry Reno. First, the Ambassador congratulated Karen Karapetyan on being elected the mayor of Yerevan and wished him success in his important mission. Greeting the guests the mayor of Yerevan noted that the relations between Yerevan and French cities should get a new impulse. According to the mayor, there are several programs and cooperation agreements between Yerevan and Lyons, Marseille, Paris, Nice which must be put on practical basis. “I attach great importance to international cooperation and I shall be consistent in the implementation of all those programs”, emphasized the mayor of Yerevan.
Karen Karapetyan presented the guest his approaches concerning the elaboration of new, efficient model of the capital management. “ We intend to apply in Yerevan a new, coordinated, tree-level management culture : municipality, administrative districts and condominiums. In this issue any exchange of advanced experience is important for us. Taking into account the way that French cities have passed in different spheres of city management, we want to use this experience in Yerevan”, noted Karen Karapetyan.
The problems related to the activity of French company «Veolia water» and «Yerevan jur» company were also discussed during the meeting. The mayor noted that the quality of water supply in the capital is still far from being satisfactory. «The dynamics of the positive changes in the company is not satisfactory, there is too much waste, the collection rate does not satisfy, either”, said the mayor of Yerevan.
On the mayor’s instruction a discussion will be held with the participation of the interested parties: “Yerevan jur” company, the municipality, Water Committee and Public Services Regulating Commission, during which the deeds and liabilities of the parties will be cleared. Such discussions are to take place every month.
