Day by day new and new Christmas trees sales points are emerging in the streets of Yerevan. The nearer New Year is coming, the more pine trees emerge ousting Christmas trees. Foreign origin of these Christmas trees is evident, as trees are one thing on top of another, nice and smooth branches lowering with tiers to the basis, while pine trees are inferior with broken-off branches. In many cases trees are cut off half. We do think that fir trees are imported, as they are selected and wrapped cautiously so as to maintain their decorative appearance and to justify their rather high prices, including transportation and customs costs.

We have another case with pine trees. Fresh cuts on trees witness these trees have been cut in neighboring forests and directly for sale.

We wish happy holidays to all, including controlling bodies and various state inspections. It should also be reminded, that ban on Christmas trees felling in Armenia is still in force, and if the inspection doesn’t know how to differentiate local pine trees from the imported onesm just check their documents.
