Why does Your country disregard Armenia and Armenians?

ARMENIA Today received an open letter today addressed to Charles Lonsdale, the Ambassador of Great Britain to Armenia.

Dear Ambassador

I have a question to You: why does Your country disregard Armenia, Armenians and their history. Recently Armenian Bishop Michael Ajapayan has been denied visa by Your Embassy. Besides, Great Britain is reported to have published a false encyclopedia, according to which the main languages of Armenia are Armenian and Azerbaijani. This is absurd. It is Armenian that has always been an official language. On the other hand the publication assures that Gharabagh is an Azerbaijani region. Where do You take these lies from? Please, look at the map of the Ancient  World, can You see a country named Azerbaijan there? The authors of the name Azerbaijan and Azeri are the communists. The word Azerbaijani is a toponym. One can get the impression that Your country has preconceived attitude towards Armenia and Armenians. It is common knowledge that a great number of Indians and Pakistani people live in Your country. Can You say that the official language of England is English, Indian, Pakistani and may be other languages. I realize that English companies are engaged with making money by oil industry in Azerbaijan, but this gives no right to England to play up to our opponent on any occasion, presently to Azerbaijan, ‘’flooding the history with false rubbish’’. You earn great sums, may You prosper, but You shouldn’t  distort our history for mercenary motives. You have neither moral nor loyal right to spread false information about Armenai all over the world. I assume that appropriate structures must submit a claim to judicial authorities against your encyclopedia and high authorities of Great Britain. We ask for Your cooperation to solve that problem.

Respectfully

Dr. Harry Nahapetyan

P.S.

It should be mentioned that in 2003, the British publishing house ‘’Macmillan children’s books’’ published ‘’The Big Illustarated Geographic Encyclopedia’’, which includes wrong information about Armenia. First, the book says that alongside with Armenian the main language in Armenia is Azerbaijani. Second, the main religions are Christianity (Armenian Apostolic Church) and Shia Islam. Third, since 1991 Armenia has had a conflict with Azerbaijan because of Nagorno Karabakh which is an Azerbaijani region inhabited by Armenians. In 2009 the encyclopedia was translated by the publishing house ‘’Makhaon’’ comprising the wrong information about Armenia.

Armenian society came to know about this quite by chance in September of the current year.
