Yerevan to get new Mayor soon

The Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) finished its meeting a few minutes ago. The meeting was chaired by RA President, RPA Chairman Serzh Sargsyan.

RPA Press Secretary Eduard Sharmazanov informed NEWS.amthat the meeting decided to convene the RPA Council’s meeting on December 16 to decide on the RPA nominee for the most of Yerevan Mayor. President Serzh Sargsyan will take part in the meeting.

At its December 17 meeting, the Yerevan City Council is to elect Yerevan Mayor. A reliable source informed NEWS.am that Karen Karapetyan, ArmRusgasprom  Board Chairman, is most likely to be elected Yerevan Mayor. Two other candidates – First Vice-Mayor Taron Margaryan and Head of the RPA faction at the Yerevan City Council Derenik Dumanyan – were named earlier. However, a decision in favor of Karen Karapetyan has been made.
