I’ve twice been in Tsitsernakaberd, I’ll be there again: Taner Akcam arrived in Yerevan
Politics, Daily news | ankakh | December 14, 2010 15:12After 95-year-old denial of Armenian Genocide, I don’t think Turkey can found a good democracy, Turkish historian and scientist Taner Akcam told reporters on Thursday.
Turkish scientist, who currently lives in the United States, arrived in Yerevan to attend “Crime of genocide, prevention, condemnation and elimination of the consequences” international conference and plans to visit tomorrow Tsitsernakaberd – Memorial of Armenian Genocide victims.
“I’ve twice been to Tsitsernakaberd and I’ll go there third time; there is nothing shocking there,” Akcam said.
Referring to the recognition of Armenian Genocide by Turkey, Turkish scientist said: “I’m not alone in my appeal to our government to be changed. To stand face to face with history is something unreal, but I do hope that the day will come.”
