Armen Aivazian: “To Call to Account the British and Russian Publishing House is the Duty of the State”

The government should be bound by the invocation of responsibility by the British and Russian publishing house that published an encyclopedia, full of false information about Armenia. This convinced the doctor of political science Armen Aivazian, who considers unacceptable “neutral” position, which took government agencies:

“In this case, for which the state at the expense of us taxpayers, contains all of these structures, which are designed to address precisely these issues – he says – but this is not the only case of this phenomenon, the responsibility for fighting to be taken by government agencies, ranging ending with the presidential Ministry of Foreign Affairs and analytical institutions. ”

As for the opinion that this misinformation is unintentional, there Ayvazian sees two problems. Firstly, people do not know what scale anti-Armenian propaganda is conducted in foreign literature information, which is mainly used by foreign readers, and secondly, even if they know they do not want to go against the “powerful forces” and create problems for yourself. “Naturally, it is much easier to take a conformist stance – said Ayvazian – but this conformism is destructive for the nation and state.”

Politician, welcoming the public initiative to fight the British and Russian publishing houses, at the same time emphasizes that to achieve significant results need to understand the situation, develop a strategy to acquire allies and, most importantly, never give up, because the fight can be long. “You have seen only one enemy squad – he says – but you need to see everything, because behind it is not an enemy force, they are also behind our backs.”

After years of studying foreign experience and practices of the Armenian, he came to the sad conclusion that in the international arena in terms of protecting the historical truth, Armenia, more than unprepared. “This suggests that we have state mentality, national dignity, and therefore, the resistance at very low levels,” – he said.

Ayvazian gives many examples of how to react and how to resolve such issues of power in other countries.

So, May 15, 2009 decree of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is created, the Commission under the President of the Russian Federation to counter attempts to falsify history to the detriment of Russia, “which included the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Chief of Foreign Intelligence Service, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Deputy Minister of Justice and many other senior officials. Chairman of the Commission was appointed Chief of Staff of the President. This Commission has already conducted extensive work.

Ayvazian said another example. In October 2004 Year period the American National Geographic Society (National Geographic Society) published in the eighth edition of the Atlas of the World “Persian Gulf, also referred to as the Arabian Gulf. Despite the fact that the last name was written in parentheses, Iran considered the move a political assassination, and in response banned the sale of all publications of the National Geographic Society in Iran.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture of Iran demanded that has been corrected yet another record, according to which several Persian Gulf islands are considered “occupied” by Iran. As the above-mentioned ministry official said: “As long as the” National Geographic “is not correct in his atlas to use the name Arabian Gulf next to the Persian Gulf, Iran banned all of its publications and activities of journalists.”

The next step is the Iranian government: very fast, in just four weeks have been compiled and December 19 issued a separate collection of historical maps of the region, which indicated only the name of the Persian Gulf as.

Reporter “Associated press” wrote that Iran’s use of the name Arabian Gulf was tantamount to infringement on its sovereignty.

Thanks to strong support from the government, Iranian historians and political scientists have launched a powerful movement to protect the only historically correct name of the Persian Gulf.

Initially, «National Geographic Society» – tried to protect the right to use the term “Arabian Gulf”, but eventually correct themselves and with the “Atlas of the World” was deleted this title. With the same card is also information about the disappeared occupation above the islands by Iran. Iran’s foreign minister said on that occasion: “This retreat is a victory for every Iranian.”

Unfortunately, we currently cannot boast of such victories.

As noted by Ayvazian, neither public nor political nor scientific institutions in Armenia have not done this attempt to protest against the open assaults, committed by and perpetrated against the Armenian history and culture, historical geography and demography, have become symbols of the nation’s leaders and their works.
