If it were an important thing, so many reporters wouldn’t gather. The press-conference named “The role of women in society and politics” was opened by the Heritage faction member Anahit Bakhshyan when she saw that numerous media outlets were interested in the topic.

From this consideration of Mrs. Bakhshyan it can be assumed that the respectable member of Heritage subordinates women’s role in the topic within much more important topics, that is to say, without a policy for women, because such is the Armenian reality nowadays.

Conference speaker, a member of the ARF faction Lilit Galstyan spoke about this.

“Although the legislation refers to men and women equally, but the male political culture prevails in our reality, – she said,” actually we do not have equality of rights.  The experience shows that laws and life are different notions.

Galstyan said that in 1993 UN Women’s Convention concerning the rights segregation, Armenia after signing the convention on the issue during different years, different organizations signed the conventions, but it does not change reality.

“This year the PACE resolution recorded that the best way of increasing the role of women mechanism is electoral mechanism,” said Galstyan.

The member of the ARF faction asked a rhetorical question, whether the human rights were protected in our country not speaking of women’s rights. “It depends on the level of democracy in the country,” she said.

Referring to the Deputy Speaker Arevik Mkrtchyan’s resign, as a woman officer, Galstyan said that it was aintro-coalition decision and it is not necessary for everybody to agree with that decision.

“Personally I consider her an educated and competent worker and many would like to see such women in the Parliament.” she said.

“The coalition solved its internal protraction on the account of a female-member,”Anahit Bakhshyan concluded her speech concerning this topic.
