Mafiosi arrested in Yerevan not to be extradited

A criminal case under paragraph 2 part 3 of Article 266 of the Armenian criminal code (large-scale drug trafficking) was initiated against Jose Sanches, member of Cosa Nostra recently arrested in Armenia,informed Armen Malkhasyan, employee of the Armenian police press service.
According to him, article provides 7-15 imprisonment with possible confiscation of property.
Armen Malkhasyan also said that extradition is not on the agenda. “Extradition is out of question. Sanches committed crime in Armenia. Criminal case is initiated where the crime was committed. Preliminary enquiry is underway,” he said.
Jose Sanches, a Spanish citizen and member of Cosa Nostra, has been detained in Armenia on November 5.
Jose Sanches arrived in Yerevan from Spain, through Moscow. In his suitcase police officers found and confiscated one kilogram of powder resembling methamphetamine. The powder has been sent for examination.
