Georgia is Ready to Talk about the Russians Accused of Spying

Georgia is ready to negotiate with the Russian side in the case of Russian citizens who were detained on espionage charges, said on Monday, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nino Kalandadze. Georgian Interior Ministry said that during large-scale operations staff of the Department counterintelligence MVD showed dozens of people, collaborating with the secret services of Russia. As a result of four years of work of law enforcement bodies of Georgia have detained 15 people. Two were released after the conclusion of a procedural deal, while 13 people are in custody. Among those detained four citizens of Russia: Armen Gevorgyan Ruben Shikoyan, Peter and Yuri Devshiradze Skrylnikov.

“We are ready to negotiate on this issue” – Kalandadze said, according to which the Russian side has requested through the Swiss Embassy, representing the interests of both countries, information about its citizens and their input to the consular.

However Kalandadze considers “inappropriate” at this stage, the Russian reaction in this case.

Speaking about the possibility of transfer to Russia its citizens, the deputy minister said that it would be “subject to negotiation, and it will already decide law-enforcement agencies between each other.” RIA “Novosti”
