“Ugly Mug” released on bail: Prosecutor’s Office appeals verdict

The RA Prosecutor General’s Office appealed the court verdict granting bail to the battalion commander at the Vazgen Sargsyan military unit in Ararat Vardan Martirosyan, nicknamed “Ugly Mug”, and to the deputy commander Aratur Karapetyan, Sona Truzyan, Press Secretary of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office, informed NEWS.am.

She did not make any comments on the information by the Zhamanak (Time) newspaper. The newspaper reported that RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan allegedly met with the Prosecutor General and asked him to lodge an appeal against the court verdict. “We are not going to comment on any press nonsense,” Truzyan said.

NEWS.am reminds readers that “Ugly Mug” and Lieutenant-Colonel Artur Karapetyan were released on bail under a court verdict on Oct 29. Interestingly, Vardan Martirosyan was set free on a 1 million AMD (U.S. $2,800) bail, and Artur Karapetyan on a 820,000 AMD (U.S. $2,300) bail.
