Dangerous envelopes reached Armenian Embassy in Greece
Worldwide, Daily news | ankakh | November 5, 2010 12:39On November 4, the Armenian Embassy in Greece received two suspicious envelopes causing concern of the employees, Spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan .“Greek police squad was immediately called. They checked the enveloped for any explosives, as well as dangerous biological or chemical components,” he noted.
The examination revealed no components posing any threat. At the moment the embassy is carrying out its activities in the normal course.
14 parcels with explosive were intercepted within last week.
The “black list” of addressees involves Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The parcels that had to reach The Hague and European Court of Luxemburg were found at the Athens airport. Both parcels were deactivated.
Another two bombs exploded earlier, one of them near diplomatic mission of Switzerland in Athens and another – in a truck of a private post company in the Greek capital. The parcel was intended for Mexico Embassy, another was planned to be sent to Belgium.
On November 2, the Greek authorities banned sending any parcels by air from the territory of Greece.
