Through the eyes of students of Artsakh State University Department of Journalism and literature, the future of journalism in Artsakh has a gloomy picture. Armine Grigoryan is a fourth-year student and doesn’t connect her future with her chosen profession. “In the first year we were taken to the studio for practice, we were asked what we want to learn,- she says, “but I think that first-year student does not know yet what he wants to learn, he must be taught so that questions emerge to him.”

Armine says thatin the teaching faculty they are short of not only professionals but also quality. “We have two lecturers of journalism, one of them has just completed postgraduate studies, and the other is still a graduate student. Both are from Yereva: we are not satisfied with our knowledge.”

University of Karabakh is a separate Faculty of Journalism and it functions in the faculty of literature and philology.  70-80 students study in the 1-4-th undergraduate, in each group – 18-20. “There isn’t one at our course that wants to remain in the same faculty,- Armine’s word continues her friend, Martha Badalian, I and all my classmates want to continue magistracy in another faculty.

Martha says that whatever event they want to cover and offer to an editorial, respond that the newspaper journalist was there. “Our town is so small that something is done, all the reporters are there,” says she,- everywhere there is formed team, I don’t know where and wahat we can offer.” And the girls’ offered no print media Events Forum the press does not accept” We are told that we are very little to refer and write such topics,” said Armine,- instead of being inspired we are being broken in”.

In “Aravot” editor Aram Abrahamian’s opinion, if the Armenian media are under pressure X time, then Artsakh media – 10 X times.”
