Aygestan Reminiscent of an Extinct Beehive

Recently because of Azerbaijan soldiers numerous harassment the attention of  the media, public took Aygestan Martakert (Chaylu) village. Chaylu events, news about events reached the time involved in the settlement of Karabakh conflict and the Council of Europe involved in missions, but as always, this time also wet was mixed with dry and a sign of equality was put. But this is not that I want to talk about. My concern is other. Why Chaylu when still before the movement the village was relieved of his Muslim name and called Aygestan, and our official media continue to cite – Chaylu.

1992. June 16 was a gloomy day when Aygestan villagers left their homes. Deadly sandstorm maid Aygestan citizens leave their homes, and they were left without anything. For preventing children from long-term bombings, cannonades, still a week before they had been taken to the neighboring mountainous Tonashen.

For the citizens a place more beautiful than their village cannot be found, It stretches along the left coast of Tartar river, One of the districts was called the Upper, the other internal Aygestan.

Still in “peaceful times” the Aygestan citizen’s soul was not peaceful, he couldn’t bear the injustice of time. Contradictions between Armenian and Azerbaijani operators became increasingly profound. In the former mayor’s opinion, these contradictions came from the upper Echelon leadership connivance. Even in annual reports unfair treatment was manifested in all areas, which often ended with a fight. Financial resources were distributed so unequal that it was impossible to cope with it.

In 1992 June 16, Aygestan citizens only left the village, provided that they would return again by the morning, but the enemy kept the village with teeth. when at the the end of the war – a few days before the cease fire, our defense forces managed to liberate the village of Talysh, also made several attempts to take Aygestan… “Perhaps the adversary knew about the insistence of Aygestan citizens, in 10 minutes so much power and equipment poured out on the village border that it was no longer possible to liberate,” says the Aygestan leader, the village, which now reminds of extinct hive.

It is good that today New Aygestan and New Maragha villages are being built in Artsakh.Karvachar has become a region of Shahumyan region, but the bad is that we come to terms with the loss.
