The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg is to consider two claims tomorrow. One of the claims was lodged by an Armenian family against Azerbaijan and the other by an Azerbaijani family against Armenia. However, the Azerbaijani family’s claim is up in the air.
Source in Strasbourg informed that the Azeri claimants disappeared. According to the procedure, two members of the Chiragov family – Elhan and Adishirin – are to take part in the proceedings. Azerbaijan’s representatives went to the airport, but the Chiragovs did not arrive. They were on the Baku-Paris plane, but no one met them there.
The Azerbaijani representatives do not rule out that the family may have got lost (they do not know the language) or, taking advantage of the Shengen visa, they may have fled to another country.
On September 15, the European Court of Human Rights is considering two claims. The first claim was lodged by the Sargsyan family, who had to leave the village of Gyulistan, Shahumyan region, in June 1992. On their claim, the Sargsyan family pointed out that Azerbaijan is responsible for the destruction of cultural monuments and cemeteries in the village.
The other claim was lodged by the Chiragov family.
