Exhibitions will be organized, as well as a 500-page book about Tigran the Great will be published and Artak Simonyan’s ‘Tigran the Great’ film will be presented within the framework of the events on the 2150th anniversary of Tigran the Great. Ghazar Mirzoyan, co-chairman of the World Union of Armenian Writers, said at today’s meeting with journalists that 62 operas, dedicated to Tigran the Great, were written, but only 28 of them has been preserved and collected from various states of the world. He added that a slew of pictures were received from 8 states for the exhibitions, which are intended to be held till the end of the year. He says the most comprehensive one is the expo-fair, dedicated to Tigran the Great.

The applications for the expo-fair will be accepted October 11-15. Any painter with professional education may partake in the expo-fair by presenting only one picture. ‘The expo-fair will be held at RA National Gallery, so we cannot involve works of amateur painters. As to the expo of junior painting, the participants will have thematic freedom and professional education will not be obligatory,’ Ghazar Mirzoyan said. The expo-fair is intended to open December 1, the junior expo – several days later. The winners of the expo-fair will be awarded with the Surenyants Order and the winners of the junior expo will be awarded with encouraging prizes.

Levon Igityan, director of the National Center of Aesthetics, underscored the importance of the events on the 2150th anniversary of Tigran the Great and mentioned that the Armenian society has diverged from the culture. ‘We do not know our modern painters and writers, but the singers of low-quality songs are well-known among us. We should increase our interest towards the art. This is one of such opportunities,’ Levon Igityan said.
