According to the calendar of the Armenian Apostolic church today, on June 24, is the holiday of the Sacred Translators Sahak Partev and Mesrop Mashtotc.
This significant day our native government and the National Assembly have celebrated originally, more than originally. In the first reading they have approved the bill of the changes in the law “About the language”, which directly contradicts sacred business of Mashtotc and Partev. Our figures undertook sacred business of creation of Armenian books and opening of Armenian schools – for the sake of preservation of identity and continuation of our nation. Also it is possible to tell unconditionally – we have kept ourselves, remained Armenians, first of all thanks to them.
And the authorities of our independent state in the first reading have accepted a bill which strikes blow to the bases of our identity and our independence. According to the project, 11 high foreign language schools will be opened in Armenia, in 9 of which subjects will be taught in a foreign language from the 9th class, and others 2 will be in the cities Dilidjan and Ijevan where subjects will be taught in a foreign language from the 7th class.
Maybe it is the latest and the most malicious joke that the destiny has played with us. We hope will that during next 3 months our leaders will become wiser and will strengthen the teaching of foreign languages at high schools, not changing the law “About the language”.
