Russia – the educational partner of Armenia

The Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan had a meeting with the plenipotentiary ambassador of the Russian Federation in Armenia Vichislav Kovalenko.
The Minister mentioned that the Armenian-Russian cooperation is on the strong basis in the field of education, and that Russian is one of the great educational partners of Armenia. He also mentioned that the meeting with the Minister of Education of RF, taken place last year, was advantageous and now has its results, the Minister especially paid attention to the fact that Armenian youths of Sankt-Peterburg University with the profession of “Osmanology” got grants.
Paying attention to the Armenian-Russian University the Minister mentioned: “If the University was considered to be the symbol of the Armenian-Russian educational cooperation in the period of its formation, today it is one of the developed Universities in Armenia which promotes the high quality of education and rivalry”. The Minister has thanked Russia for all the investments.
The next issue on which Ashotyan has talked concerns the problem of grants provided by the Russian Federation on the international agreement. The Minister suggested before the establishment of the list of professions to discuss them with Armenia in order to correspond them to demands of education of Armenia. The issue of using vacancies was discussed as well.
The ambassador mentioned that the government of the Russian Federation plans to increase the investments to the Russian-Armenian University, especially for the replenishment of the base of technical materials.
In the course of the meeting the issue of forming an Armenian-Russian joint committee has been discussed in the purpose of estimating the activity of the branches of Russian Universities in the Republic of Armenia.
