WE ARE AGAINST THE REOPENING OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE SCHOOLS

On May 12 the first meeting of the representatives of the social initiative “We are against the reopening of foreign language schools” took place, where the legislative initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science about the opening of foreign language schools was discussed.
The members of the initiative group consider that:
a) The opening of foreign language schools is a diversion towards the Armenian language and the independent state.
b) In case of accepting the project offered by the Ministry the Armenian language must be used in every sphere of life for the bilateral development.
c) The insistence of the Minister of Education and Science about the fact that foreign language schools give more qualitative education is a rasistical treatment towards people who think Armenian. Having thousand-year-old history Armenian is able to affirm all the demands of the modern education system. The quality of the education depends on not the language of teaching, but on the programs, the principles of teaching , the qualification of specialists and the organizing principles.
d) Simultaneously, in order to increase the competition of the Armenian language, a wide national program of the informational technologies and translation of world literature must be carried out. Especially it’s important to form systems of electronic translations, e.g. Google translator , as well as to develop the encyclopedia system Wikipedia and others.
e) The recognition of the Minister of Education and Science, according to which he is unable to solve the problems of the educational systems and to increase the quality of teaching foreign languages, makes have doubts in his correspondence to that position.
The initiative group will try to arrange the actions of the individuals and autocratically caused groups fighting against the opening of foreign language schools, in order to fight with joint forces against the program offered by The Ministry of Education and Science.
The program of the actions was discussed during the meeting, which will be represented to the public in the nearest future.
The group “ We are against the reopening of foreign language schools”, to which about thousand people have joined, was formed 2 weeks before in the social system facebook.
