The President Serj Sargsyan received today the chairperson of the International Human Rights Federation (FIDH) Ms. Souhayr Belhassen who arrived in Yerevan for holding 37th Congress of the Federation.

The President of the Republic noted that there are numerous problems in the area of the protection of Human Right in Armenia and it is clear that it is impossible to solve them all at once. ‘We approach this issue from the point of the comparative perspective. If the problems increased today compared to the past then we need to reconsider our actions. If there is certain advance it means that our efforts are moving in the right direction,’ mentioned the President Sargsyan. Ms. Belhassen thanked the President for the efforts in organizing the Congress in Armenia at the highest level. She believes that holding the FIDH Congress in our region is important as a historical event because the ‘capital of Armenia has become the capital of the Human Rights’. Ms. Belhassen said that from this point of view of the protection of Human Rights Armenia is now in advantageous position in a regional comparative perspective. Today the entire region comes to notice via Armenia.
The chairperson of the International Human Rights Federation expressed her hope that the cooperation with Armenia will continue to develop via the operation of the bodies dedicated to the protection of the Human Right in Armenia. She also mentioned that her various applications to the Armenian authorities do not ever remain unanswered.
The President of Armenia wished success and fruitful work to the Congress and expressed his hope that the participants might have the opportunity to make acquaintance with our country’s history and traditions too.
