Ronaldo was targeted with powerful lasers during last night’s football match between Barcelona and Real Madrid prompting fears of a new trend of ‘attacking’ footballers.
In an attempt to put off Real Madrid’s star man, the Portuguese forward had dangerous emerald lights shined directly in his eyes countless times by a number fans at the Nou Camp in Barcelona.
Laser pens are commonly used to target planes and helicopters but is now becoming widespread at football matches.
Earlier this month the Metropolitan Police promised a crackdown saying pranksters using lasers to shine at helicopters and other aircraft are unaware of the extreme danger they are causing.
The ‘weapons’ dazzling pilots and temporarily blinding them.
While Ronaldo seemed unfazed by the tactic, scoring two goals as Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey tie 3-1.
