2.9% rise in inflation is registered for the past three months
Economics, Daily news | ankakh | April 1, 2010 17:51‘It is important to note that the implemented anti-crisis measures have already had positive impact on the economy. The index of the GDP exceeds 2.5 times the preplanned figures. This worked out thanks to the budget-taxation and credit-monetary policy,’ said the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan during the session of the government held today.
Sargsyan stressed that the 5.8% rise in salaries was registered for the first term. Besides, 53% of rise in import is registered instead of the expected 16%. It is explained by the growth trend in the production sphere. There is a 9% growth in mining industry of raw materials and the production of the construction materials doubled too. The production of the diamonds increased by 39% and the jewelry production increased by 25%. The pharmaceutical industry registered its own growth by 16%.
The Prime Minister was concerned with the high level of the inflation. ‘We entered the stage of the high level of inflation which is conditioned by the budget-taxation and credit-monetary policy. It is natural because, on one hand, such a policy contributes to the economical growth and, on the other, it leads to the inflation pressure. The main task of the government and that of the Central Bank will be adopting measures that will ensure the inflation will be kept under control. We registered 0.8% of inflation in March as compared with the same dada in February which is a positive factor in comparison with the preceding two months. The inflation index for March is 2.9% as compared with the inflation in December. If we consider the annual inflation rate, it is higher as it shows 8.8%. Our estimations together with the data from the Central Bank give us forecast that allows us to keep the inflation rate under control and the figures will eventually decrease.’
The government adopted a decision to change one of its previous decisions in the course of today’s session. As a result of the change it is now possible to fine a driver or passenger at the place of the violation of the traffic rules. After the Prime Minister had received information from the Head of Police Department that the tourists’ inflow from the neighboring Iran did not reveal serious violations of law, he noted the importance of increase of the number of tourists in the country. ‘It is necessary to organize the work at the border checkpoints in such a way that our country guests should be able to see the welcome attitude of our population and that of our administrative officers,’ said the Prime Minister.
The government of RA also adopted a decision to set up a republic commission of conscription with the aim of centralized coordination of the activities. Respective marz (provincial) and Yerevan (city) commissions will also be established. The decision also involved the establishment of the central medical commission.
