Four child stowaways were treated for hypothermia after they were found trying to enter Britain illegally in a -2C (28F) refrigerated truck full of soft cheese.
The youngsters, aged from nine to 16, were found crouched in the chilled trailer at the port of Dunkirk in France along with three adults.
The group of four Afghans and three Iranians had been in the icy temperatures for hours and were facing another seven in the freezing lorry on its way to the UK.
All the children and one of the adults were found to be suffering from hypothermia and were taken to hospital.
The five taken to hospital were later given the all-clear by doctors and were handed over to the French authorities along with the remaining two stowaways.
The Bulgarian lorry driver was interviewed by French police but later released without charge.
