UN Office in Armenia Marks International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Yerevan, 27 June 2012 – An art exhibition which promotes healthy life style, human rights and sustainable development and is dedicated to the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was opened today at the UN House.
Well known Armenian artist and photographer Samvel Sevada presented his works to
UN staff, government officials, art community and civil society representatives and general public at the opening ceremony and spoke about the important role of UN values for the Armenian society.
Maria Dotsenko, Representative of the UN Department on Public Information said: “UN House doors are traditionally open to Armenian artists who use their creativity and talent to promote UN values aimed to ensure peace, sustainable development, healthy life style and protection of environment, respect to human rights and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.”
Samvel Sevada added: “We, artists, appreciate that the UN office in Armenia continues to encourage and motivate us to promote UN values through art.”
The exhibition is organized by the UN Department of Public Information and is open for the public until 27 July, 2012, from 15:00 till 17:00.
