The General Prosecutors of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation signed Cooperation Program for 2012-2013

On 25 April, 2012, the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika arrived in Armenia on a working visit.
The General Prosecutors of both countries had a private conversation and discussed the issues on the interaction of the prosecution bodies of both countries, including the provision of legal aid in the framework of concrete criminal cases, provided by the Agreement on the Cooperation between the General Prosecutor’s Offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation signed on 22 September, 2006.
During the meeting the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan and the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika signed 2012-2013 Cooperation Program between the General Prosecutors of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. The sides planned to organize round tables and discussions on the following themes:
– the problems and practice of the struggle against the use of internet for extremist and terrorist purposes,
– the exchange of experience between the departments of the Prosecutor’s Offices on the discussion of the efficiency of the results and methods of the exchange of experience and practice in the struggle against the corruption crimes and the prevention of other violations,
– the modern forms and methods of international cooperation in providing legal assistance in criminal cases, cooperation between the General Prosecutor’s Offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation in the spheres of extradition and legal assistance.
During the working visit the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika handed to the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia A. Hovsepyan the Medal of Honor awarded by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Medvedev issued on April 14, 2012 for his contribution to the development of the Armenian –Russian cooperation in strengthening the legal system and legality.
