UN Office in Armenia promotes gender equality through art

Yerevan, 10 April, 2012 – An art exhibition which promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment and is dedicated to the National Motherhood Day was opened today in the UN House.
The tapestry works of Armenian artists Seda Sargsyan and Arpine Haroutyunyan were exhibited at this exhibition, dedicated to the Motherhood Day celebrated on 7 April in Armenia.
Maria Dotsenko, UN Department of Public Information Representative said: “We are pleased to complement the country’s efforts and further contribute to raising public awareness on the issues of gender equality and women’s empowerment.”
Seda Sargsyan, the artist, commented: “I appreciate the opportunity to share my art with the public and to emphasize the crucial role which we, Armenian women, play in the development of our society.”
The exhibition will be open to the public until 20 April, 2012 on Mondays to Fridays from 15:00 till 17:00.
