Prosecutor asks 4 years in jail for former Armenian Police official
People, Daily news | ankakh | March 20, 2012 15:40YEREVAN. – The prosecutor Harutyun Harutyunyan asked the court for 4 years of imprisonment for the former Chief of the Police Force Criminal Investigation Department, Police Major General Hovhannes Tamamyan at Yerevan’s court on Tuesday.
In his accusatory speech the prosecutor claimed defendants Hovhannes Tamamyan, Armen Poghosyan and Vahan Khanzadyan are charged with abuse of power, which has caused serious consequences.
The prosecution asked for 2,6 years of imprisonment for Poghosyan and Khanzadyan, but the punishment may be conventional. Next court hearings are scheduled for Friday.
Poghosyan, Khanzadyan and Tamamyan accepted the charges that were made against them during previous hearings. To note, Hovhannes Tamamyan is under custody since March 24, 2011.
