Tribute Paid To Mesrop Mashtots On International Mother Tongue Day

On International Mother Tongue Day, off to Oshakan village of Armenia, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan paid tribute to the memory of Mesrop Mashtots by laying a wreath at the tomb of the creator of Armenian letters.
An event dedicated to Mesrop Mashtots and the Armenian alphabet took place at the church-affiliated theological seminary with the participation of local schoolchildren.
Note that as early as in 1999, February 21 was proclaimed by UNESCO to be the International Mother Tongue Day. A series of events have been organized nationwide on this occasion.
