PARIS. – In a French TV program Thé ou Café by Catherine Ceylac French actor Charles Berling was invited, who had for many times expressed wish to meet with French famous singer of Armenian descent Charles Aznavour. Aznavour was present as well. At the end of the program Seylac asked Aznavour about his position on denial of the Armenian Genocide, Nouvelles d`Arménie reports.

In response, Aznavour said that he did not approve so much the bill criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide and it would have been more reasonable to stop using the term ‘genocide.’ However, he reconsiders his words.

“If you do not like the word ‘genocide’ it is necessary replace it with another term to come into agreement. No need to fear, as Armenians do not want their lands back. Many Armenians resisted me when I said such things. When they [the Turks] did not answer to it, I sent a good letter to the French President. Then I withdrew. They do not want to move forward, so I stepped back. Once anyway they will have to acknowledge that it after all occurred,” Aznavour said.
