Spiritual leader of Caucasus Muslims to arrive in Yerevan

ETCHMIADZIN. – Caucasus Muslim Board (CMB) Chairman, and spiritual leader of Caucasus Muslims, Allahshukur Pashazade will arrive in Armenia to attend  CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Interreligious Council Presidium session, which will be held in capital Yerevan, from November 29 to 30, Father Vahram Melikyan, head of the information system of the Holy See of St. Etchmiadzin, told -NEWS.am.

To note, some Azerbaijani media were predicting Pashazade would not arrive in Armenia, whereas the other were claiming otherwise. And having informed months ago that Pashazade was invited to Yerevan, Russian Orthodox Church’s representative Roman Silantiev had stressed: “This will be Pashazade’s historic visit to Armenia.”

Father Melikyan also informed that Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia will not come to Yerevan.

During the session, the religious leaders are expected to sign an agreement.

To note, Armenian Catholicos Karekin II took part in the World Religions Summit 2010, which was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Also, a trilateral meeting was held in Baku among the Catholicos, spiritual leader of Caucasus Muslims, and Patriarch Cyril of Moscow and All Russia.
