Criminal case initiated based on the statement made on the case of taking bribery

On RA Prosecutor General’s order a criminal case has been initiated on the case of an official’s taking bribery in large amount and mediation by abusing his official position.
The criminal case has been initiated based on the statement made by the unit N’s platoon commander as to which he received 7500 USD from the relatives of an defendant accused for murdering a serviceman of the mentioned unit and violating the rules of service in order to commute his punishment that is 8 years 6 months and then to parole him. He gave 7000 USD to the prosecutor of the Garrison Military Prosecutor’s Office. According to the statement the latter had correspondent agreements with the official bodies and passed the money to them.
Taking into consideration the fact that there are violations of the RA Criminal Code Article 311, part 4, point 2 and Article 313, part 2, point 2, on October 14, 2011 a criminal case was initiated on RA Prosecutor General’s order and the preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been tasked to the RA Special Investigation Service.
The name of the person who made the statement as well as the names of the persons mentioned in the statement are not published based on the interests of the preliminary investigation of the criminal case as well as to exclude the possible influence against the person who made the statement.
The information on the results of the preliminary investigation will be provided.
