Man who beat his wife to death sentenced to ten years in Armenia

YEREVAN. – The general court of Vayoc Dzor and Ararat regions sentenced Yanis Sarkisov to ten years of freedom deprivation for brutally beating his 20-year-old wife to death.
It turned out during the trial that Yanis Sarkisov and his mother frequently beat the 20-year-old wife who grew up in orphanage, and on the accident day they beat her and kicked on the stairs.
On September 30, 2010 at 8:00pm the hospital informed the police station of Masis that 20 year old Zaruhi Petrosyan was taken to hospital with different serious injuries. Zaruhi had been taken to Erebuni hospital on that same day, where she died on October 1.
During the trial Sarkisov did not accept his guilt.
Sarkisov was sentenced to the maximum penalty, ten years of freedom deprivation. He has already spent one year in prison.
