Policeman accused of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated against a policeman of the Police for carrying out illegal turnover of narcotic drugs has been completed in the RA Special Investigation Service. The prosecutor supervising the preliminary investigation of the criminal case has confirmed the bill of indictment.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the police lieutenant Stepan Tonoyan had worked as a policeman in the Division 1 of the Criminal Investigation Department of Yerevan Police. Stepan Tonoyan sold a considerable amount of marijuana to N. Igityan in November, 2010. He also sold methylenedioxy- methamphenamine type narcotic drug to N. Igityan and N. Margaryan in “Tsghotner” restaurant in January-February, 2011, as well as a considerable amount of marijuana to R. Khachatryan on March 11, 2011.

Besides, during the preliminary investigation it has been stated that Stepan Tonoyan’s brother Sergei Tonoyan, who had worked as a head of division of the Avan territorial subdivision of the RA State Committee of Cadastre, grew cannabis type narcotic drug from August 2010 to May 2011 and by processing it got a considerable amount of marijuana. Together with his girl friend he sold the narcotic drug to many people.

The policeman of the Division 1 of the Criminal Investigation Department of Yerevan Police Stepan Tonoyan has been charged according to the RA Criminal Code Article 233, part 1 and Sergei Tonoyan has been charged according to the RA Criminal Code Article 233, part 3, points 1 and 2. The criminal case has been sent to the Court of First Instance of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts.
