The public will have more access to UN-related information at a sixth and newest UN Corner, which was launched today in Goris at the Syunik based NGO “Women Resource Centre”.
Youth, journalists, researchers, civil society activists and all interested individuals can use the library at the UN Corner to learn more about the UN values and its work. It will also serve as the base for UN-related cultural, educational, and other events for the local community.
“We are happy to have the UN Corner in Goris and especially in our “Women Resource Center”. We will unite our efforts with local authorities and UN partners and will make sure it will serve as an additional instrument to raise the activeness of youth in our region. We appreciate this initiative and look forward to continue our cooperation with the UN Armenia Office”, said Ruzanna Torozian, Chairwoman of “Women Resource Center”.
Representatives from the local community, municipal officials and young activists gathered together for round table discussions about UN work at Armenia.
Maria Dotsenko, UN Department of Public Information Representative said: “This is an important day for us at the UN; we are looking forward to have a UN Corner in Syunik region. Public’s support and participation in UN work makes this organization what it is today: strong and effective. I am pleased that now the people from Syunik region will have an opportunity to learn more about work of the United Nations.”
Five other UN Corners exist in Artashat, Gyumri, Hrazdan, Ijevan and Kapan cities thanks to the cooperation between the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia and the UN Department of Public Information.
