Passengers of Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan train demand compensation for detriment

YEREVAN. – Passengers of Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan train, whose trip was postponed on July 30 due to railway accident in Georgia, are determined to appeal to the court, demanding compensation for detriment, said a passage of the train, expert of Freedom of Information center Liana Dodoyan toNEWS.am.

She noted that the schedule of Yerevan – Batumi – Yerevan train has not changed “insignificantly”, as reported by the press service of South Caucasus Railway, but very noticeably as they travelled for 32 hours in appalling conditions.

According to her, about 300 passengers of the train, including children, slept for almost 9 hours in Gori and since the train was dark and lacked air conditioning, people had to spend the night on the pavement of train station with no food and minimal living conditions.

According to our respondent, they have seen railway station representative in Tbilisi. He promised that in Ayrum the starved passengers will be served meals but it was not provided.
