Catholicos of All Armenians respects Georgian Patriarch and his experience – Armenian Church responds to scandalous statement
People, Daily news | ankakh | June 20, 2011 20:16YEREVAN. – Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is reluctant to comment on the statement by Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II on Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, Spokesperson for Etchmiadzin Ter Vahram Melikyan told NEWS.am.
“His Holiness Karekin II respects Ilia II and his experience” Meiklyan stressed, adding this completely reflects the position of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on his statement about Karekin II.
According to Georgia Online agency, Ilia II said at Holy Trinity Cathedral on June 19 that His Holiness Karekin II is a young man and probably he should gain more experience.
“He is clever, but wants to do everything quickly that does not work. I told him I have more experience, so it is better to remain calm,” he said.
Ilia II also said that the Georgian Church is open to all, but it will not allow oppression of the Georgian people and Georgia
