Armenian President does not plan to meet with Turkish leaders

Armenian Presidential Spokesman Armen Arzumanyan answered question of Armenian News-NEWS.am concerning Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit Istanbul and possible meetings with Turkish leaders.

According to Arzumanyan, President Sargsyan’s participation in the 4th UN forum of the most underdeveloped countries in Istanbul is being discussed with the relevant UN agencies.

“As regards the second part of question, the Armenian President is not scheduled to hold any bilateral meetings with Turkish leaders in the near future,” Arzumanyan added.

Turkish mass media report that the Armenian President has been invited to a UN conference to be held in Istanbul, May 9 to 13. The Turkey-based Zamannewspaper highlights that the Armenian leader has been invited along with his French and Israeli counterparts.

The leaders of over 50 countries, as well as about 100 ministers, are expected to take part in the conference.
