The saplings will be watched by law machinery

The head of Nature Protection department of the Yerevan City Hall Avet Martirosyan during his meeting with mass media referred to the main points of the annual planting program in the capital. In this direction large-scale activity is to be implemented in the capital in 2011. New gardens, parks and green zones will be formed. To attach colour spectrum to Yerevan 450 thousand flower seedlings were imported from Holland, which will be distributed among administrative districts after being grown in greenhouses within a month. In parallel with this, on the instruction of Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan 4000 evergreen decorative trees and bushes were brought from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“The tree planting has already begun in administrative districts, which is aimed both at green zones increase and attaching aesthetic look to Yerevan. In the basis of Yerevan mayor’s initiative is the planting of evergreen decorative trees, which will be have green foliage both in summer and in winter. Besides, those sorts of trees have been chosen which absorb maximum heavy metals from the soil“, noted Avet Martirosyan.
