Yerevan will be represented at the International Book Fair in Geneva
SOCIETY, Daily news | ankakh | March 28, 2011 18:39Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan received the delegation of Geneva International Book Exhibition. At the International Book Fair from April 28 to May 3 Yerevan will be represented as the World Book Capital of 2012. Attaching importance to the decision to announce Yerevan World Book Capital of 2012 by the UNESCO, Karen Karapetyan noted that this occasion will be best used for book propaganda, especially taking account that in parallel with information technologies development the role of printed book is almost forced out from everyday life.
The actions will be numerous and varied: «We shall search for architectural solutions as well providing favourable conditions for holding book sales», said the mayor. The mayor pointed out that Yerevan participation in the Geneva Fair is very important and everything will be done to introduce the capital of Armenia suitably.
The leader of the Geneva International Book Fair delegation Patric Ferla said he was pleased with the introduction of Armenia at the exhibition and expressed confidence that the actions will really contribute to increase interest in books, especially taking into account that Armenia has a rich cultural experience.
